The world would be perfect if all Bassets were considered family members and treated as such for life, come hell or high water.

Unfortunately, this is not reality. Things happen, such as death, incarceration, divorce, bankruptcy and on and on. There are situations where a family's Basset may be better off in a different home that can provide attention, stability and health care. This is where Basset Rescue can sometimes help.

BRCC is available to those who are elderly and can no longer physically care for their dog, to the guy who just got a 15 year sentence, to the wife who just divorced and can't afford to feed her kids let alone find an apartment that will accept pets, etc. Life is full of hardships and BRCC can sometimes help the Basset in need.

If you are in a legitimate bind and need help placing your Basset, please submit the following:

• Picture of the Basset to be surrendered
• Vaccination record showing up to date DHLPP and Rabies
• Certificate of Spay or Neuter OR a letter from a vet (on their letterhead) confirming the appearance of spay or neuter.
• Reason(s) for surrender
