The following are just suggestions of things to shop for when preparing for your new Basset addition:
- Quality Dog Food
- Food bowl
- Water bowl

- Crate and soft bedding for sleeping
inside
- Chewies to keep him busy (i.e.,
Kong filled with peanut butter, pressed rawhide, fuzzy, stuffed
animals)
- Nail Clippers
- Ear wash solution and cotton
balls for ear cleaning
- Slicker brush for weekly brushing
- Pooper Scooper
For the Frugal....
Bedding for the crate can be an old bath towel or old bath/kitchen rug...just something soft to make him
comfortable.
Kongs are expensive ($10) but indestructible and well worth the investment.
Stuffed animals can be found at the Salvation Army, Good Will and other thrift stores. Remove the eyes
as well as any buttons and let the dogs have at 'em. They usually don't cost more than $1 a piece so they
can destroy as many as they want. No big deal. :o)
Guillotine type clippers for large dogs work well or you can let the vet take care of it for under $10.
There are many recipes on the net for home-made ear wash solutions that cost next to nothing.
A shovel will work just as well as a pooper scooper, it just takes a little more bending.
